Robert Walker

Robert leads IRMA’s engagement and partnerships with the finance sector and has joined the board of the Howe Sound Biosphere Regional Initiative, bringing 30+ years of experience in the sustainable investing field helping lead the development of the industry internationally. He formerly served as Executive Director of the Responsible Investment Association and Vice-President, Head of ESG Services at NEI Investments, a leading Canadian asset manager focused on sustainable investing. He is a Climate Governance Expert for the Canadian Climate Law Initiative established by the University of British Columbia and York University. Robert is the recipient of a 2021Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Robert currently sits on the board and chairs the Nominations and Governance Committee of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), a top global environmental think-tank.  He also serves on the board of Vajrakila Innovations, a Finnish app-development company advancing smart earth technologies and citizen science in support of the environment. He is the owner of Le Chardonnier, a vineyard located in the Mâconnais wine region of France, and is working with local partners to adopt organic and biodynamic wine-growing practices.
