Dr. Ryoko Ueda is Senior Research Fellow at J-IRIS Research and Lecturer at Meiji Gakuin University in Business Law. She is a member of ICGN Shareholder Responsible Committee. She was Special Researcher of Financial Research Center at Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) and is a member of many Japanese government councils such as “The Council of Experts Concerning the Follow-up of Japan’s Stewardship Code and Japan’s Corporate Governance Code” and “The Council of Experts on the Stewardship Code”. She is responsible for the research in corporate governance and stewardship. She published many papers and books and delivered lectures on corporate governance and stewardship issues including Corporate Governance Code, Stewardship Code, director independence, executive remunerations, general meetings, cross-shareholdings, fiduciary duties, role of institutional investors and proxy voting. She wrote OECD Corporate Governance Working Paper “How is corporate governance in Japan changing? --Developments in listed companies and roles of institutional investors --”. She holds Ph.D. of Policy Study from Chiba University of Commerce and Master of Business Law from Yokohama City University. She joined Mizuho Securities in 2002 and transferred to J-RIS Research.
