Karin Halliday is Senior Manager, Corporate Governance at Australia’s leading sustainable investor, AMP Capital. Since being appointed to this role in early 2000 Karin has been responsible for AMP Capital’s proxy voting and engagement with companies in relation to the way they are governed on behalf of shareholders. Her role now forms part of AMP Capital’s highly regarded ESG team. Prior to taking on the governance role Karin spent over 10 years in a range of portfolio management and investment specialist roles at AMP. Companies are generally appreciative of the balanced approach Karin brings to discussions as a result of her years in portfolio management. Karin is often called upon to provide a shareholder’s perspective on a range of governance issues. In addition to publishing a regular Corporate Governance Report, Karin has been asked to share her insights at various investment industry and director roundtables, forums and conferences. Particular areas of focus have included remuneration, leadership succession planning, cyber security, shareholder activism, board composition and gender diversity. As one of Australia’s largest asset managers with over A$155bn under management, AMP Capital has the opportunity to regularly engage with the Chairmen and Directors of Australia’s largest companies. Karin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Accounting), a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and is a recent graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Directors Program.
