John Jarrett is Director, Regulatory & Public Policy, EY UK, where he manages regulatory and public policy issues, including in relation to corporate governance. Currently based in London, he has worked in ESG on four continents. Prior to joining EY, John was Associate Director, ESG Research at FTSE Russell, where he oversaw ESG research, which formed the basis for the FTSE4Good Index Series. John has previously been Executive Director of the Chairmen’s Forum in the United States, and consulted to the investment and legal industries on ESG issues. This followed five years as Director of Research at GMI Ratings, now part of MSCI. Originally a lawyer, he became the Ministerial Adviser to the Australian Attorney-General overseeing corporate and securities laws. John also spent five years at the Securities Institute of Australia, where he lead the policy function and served as a key representative for the Institute on corporate governance, accounting standards and financial disclosure policies.

John has been a member of ICGN policy groups on corporate risk, business ethics, gender diversity, political donations and tax transparency. He currently serves on the Ethics and Systemic Risk Committee. John has also served on many other policy bodies, such as the Australian Corporate Governance Roundtable and CFA Institute CD&A Working Group. He is a board member at the UK Sustainable Finance and Investment Association (UKSIF).
