Biography

As partner and ESG & Sustainability Services leader at PwC Denmark, I lead the firm’s business development of advisory and assurance services. In this role I advise and assist boards and management teams that want their organisations to become sustainable businesses, but do not know quite where to begin. We start by defining what good looks like in objective terms and devising strategies to get there. In my career I have been privileged to learn from and shape the evolution of corporate sustainability as a recognised professional discipline. This knowledge is an asset that I put to work, for the benefit of clients as well as my team, colleagues and professional network.

I joined the Novo Group in 2000 to ingrain the principle-based approach to business known as the Triple Bottom Line concept as the lens for better-informed decision-making. Since then, I have led sustainability-driven initiatives, issues management and stakeholder engagement, with particular focus on investors seeking to understand the company’s ESG risks and opportunities (Environment, Social and Governance) and the community of sustainability professionals. And as an early mover, I was the driver behind the integration of the company’s financial and sustainability reporting which began in 2004. At the end of 2020 I could confidently state ‘mission accomplished’ and move on.

I share my experience and insights in my additional roles as adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Business School, visiting professor at UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business, member of the SASB Standards Board and of the Board of Directors of the ICGN and the Board of Directors of Shift, and member of the Board of Access to Nutrition Foundation.

In 2020 I was appointed member of the EFRAG Project Task Force to develop the foundation for European Standards for Corporate Sustainability Reporting.
