Dr Torsten Jochem is an assistant professor of Finance at the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on corporate governance and executive compensation matters. One area of particularly interest to him are peer effects in governance. To that end, in an ongoing project, he examines the peer effects of say on pay shareholder voting. Prior work on the CEO retention incentives of unvested equity has been published in the Review of Financial Studies. He also conducts research on broader notions of governance such as the governance and efficiency of teams, or the consequences from differences in voting mechanisms in democratic institutions. Dr Jochem joined the University of Amsterdam in 2013 with a PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
