First elected to the CalSTRS Board in 2007, re-elected in 2011, 2015, and 2019; Mr. Harry Keiley currently serves as the Chairman of the Investment Committee for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS). Previous leadership positions held at CalSTRS include Chairman of the Compensation Committee and Chairman of the Board.

CalSTRS, with more than $226.5 billion in assets under management and more than 800,000 members, is the largest teacher pension fund in the world. 

Investment policy adoptions under Mr. Keiley's leadership include a $2.5b allocation to a passively managed low carbon index, Risk Mitigation Strategies to reduce portfolio volatility during public equity downturns, commitments to global infrastructure investments, the formation of an innovation asset class and the transition to a global equity portfolio strategy. 

In addition to his work inside the CalSTRS Board Room, Mr. Keiley completed the UCLA Anderson School of Business program for Trustees, the NACD Program, and the Board Effectiveness Program at the Rotman School of Business (University of Toronto).

Mr. Keiley previously served as the President of the Santa Monica Classroom Teachers Association. In 1987, Mr. Keiley began his career as a US Government and Economics teacher and in 1999 was recognized as the most Inspirational Teacher by his students and peers.
