Anatoli is widely recognized as one of the leading European experts on corporate governance and shareholder litigation. As BLB&G’s Director of  European Investor Relations, Anatoli guides European institutional investors through the details of U.S. class action litigation as well as securities litigation in Europe and Asia. His experience with securities litigation allows him to translate complex document and discovery requirements into straightforward, practical action. Moreover, he serves as trusted advisor to European investors on developing and implementing shareholder litigation policies, and on the evaluation of new and pending securities fraud and corporate governance litigations. Anatoli has been involved in a number of high profile securities class and private actions, including as a representative of the institutional investor plaintiff. Specifically, in his prior role as senior corporate governance adviser at large Dutch asset manager, Anatoli served as the client/plaintiff representative in three US class actions and a number of private actions in the U.S., Europe and Asia to recover losses due to fraud, improve corporate governance at portfolio companies, and deter future misconduct.

Based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Anatoli regularly meets European investors personally and provides advice and practical insights when needed. His deep understanding of the regulatory environment for European asset managers and pension schemes enables Anatoli to build cultural bridges and support clients in meeting their fiduciary duty. He holds an LLM from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Master in Law & Economics. Dr. Van der Krans received a doctorate in law from Utrecht University based on his research and publications concerning the virtual meeting of shareholders. He is a frequent speaker at investor conferences and has written numerous articles on securities litigation, corporate governance and asset protection. 

Before joining BLB&G, Anatoli was Senior Corporate Governance Advisor at MN Services (an investment manager with over €130 billion in managed assets) and responsible for MN’s shareholder litigation and active ownership and engagement program. Prior to joining MN, he served as an associate professor of corporate law at Utrecht University and then was a practicing attorney at a major Dutch law firm specializing in corporate and securities law.
