The form and objectives of the ICGN
were incorporated into a Statement of Founding
Principles under which the Network operated mainly by
consensus. Having become a body of some influence which can
and does express views and take appropriate action, the members
of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) recognised
the need for a somewhat more formal set of Bylaws.
In July 2002, a set of Bylaws were framed
to give the flexibility that is required of an organisation
whose members can usually only meet at the its annual conference.
They recognise that, whilst membership by organisations and
individuals from across the whole range of those with an interest
in corporate governance is welcomed and adds strength, legitimacy
and credibility to ICGN, its influence has been built on its
strong representation of the investment community and the
endeavours of investors to develop a fruitful relationship
dialogue with leading corporate officials. Click here
