ICGN Scholarships

ICGN Scholarships provide an opportunity for individuals from difficult or low-income environments to join the ICGN and attend the Annual Conference. The focus is on individuals from countries where corporate governance reform is underway as part of a strategy to build investor confidence and attract the capital needed to fund economic development.

Successful applicants are awarded complimentary membership of the ICGN for one year and a bursary towards the costs of travel and accommodation to participate in the ICGN Annual Conference. In addition, scholars are invited to join the ‘Foundation Alumnus’, a network of ICGN members committed to corporate governance reform in emerging markets.

In 2007, around 60 applications were received for scholarships to attend the ICGN Annual Conference in Cape Town and awards were made to individuals from Botswana, Ghana, Tanzania, Pakistan, South Africa, Vietnam, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malaysia.

The 2008 ICGN Annual Conference was held in Seoul and focused on the impact of globalisation on corporate governance. Award recipients included individuals from Bangladesh, Serbia, Ukraine, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Nepal.
