Session 3 – What Type of Corporate Governance System Do Investors in US Markets Want: what is the balance between regulation and shareholder rights?
What is the right balance between appropriate regulation, litigation and shareholder rights? How in turn are these to be balanced with shareholder responsibilities? What are the roles of the different players in achieving this balance? This session will ask investors in the US market who are experienced in different types of governance regulatory schemes (including voluntary codes of conduct, and comply-or-explain systems) to discuss the pros/cons of different approaches, as applied to the US.
